India Incentivises Districts To Boost Local Workforce Skills

India's Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship said on Dec. 15 it will incentivise districts and states to partner with industry on hyper-local planning to address district-level skill gaps and ready the workforce for future manufacturing needs. Secretary Debashree Mukherjee said the ministry will link the Skill India Digital Hub and National Career Service portals and use AI within 15 days to match local job openings with trained workers, while exploring AI-enabled regulatory processes to reduce compliance burdens.
