IDMerit Exposes Nearly One Billion Records

Researchers at Cybernews discovered on Nov. 11, 2025 an unprotected MongoDB database tied to IDMerit that exposed roughly 1 billion identity records across 26 countries, with more than 203 million records in the United States. The unsecured dataset included full names, home addresses, dates of birth and national ID numbers and was reportedly secured the following day. The exposure raises risks of SIM-swap, targeted phishing and identity fraud.
