ICRC Urges World To Address Gaza Crisis

Mirjana Spoljaric, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, said on Jan. 30, 2026 the world must urgently address the "dramatic" humanitarian situation in Gaza following the handover of hostages and the first phase of a ceasefire that began Oct. 10. She called for easing restrictions on dual-use goods and restoring infrastructure, noting the ICRC helped return 195 hostages (35 deceased) and 3,472 detainees and highlighted Rafah's reopening for aid.
