Government Shortlists Tata, L&T, Bharat Forge for AMCA

On Feb. 4, 2026, sources said three private firms—Tata Advanced Systems, Larsen & Toubro and Bharat Forge—have been shortlisted for India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) prototype phase, with an indicative allocation of Rs 15,000 crore. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) said it received no official communication and declined to comment. Shortlisted firms will move to commercial bidding to build five flying prototypes and one structural test specimen.
Scoring Rationale
Moderately newsworthy national defence shortlist and funding detail, limited by lack of official confirmation.
