GitHub Addresses Low-Quality AI-Generated Contributions Burden

GitHub product manager Camilla Moraes opened a community discussion last week about a rising volume of low-quality, often AI-generated pull requests and bug reports overwhelming open-source maintainers. She said GitHub is investigating immediate and longer-term fixes, including options to disable or restrict pull requests, delete PRs from the interface, add granular permissions, triage tools, and AI-attribution mechanisms. Maintainers report that only about one in ten AI-created PRs meet standards, creating unsustainable review burdens and trust issues.
