Fraudsters Exploit AI To Scale Identity Attacks
Adam Hiatt, vice president of fraud strategy at Spreedly, told PYMNTS in March that generative AI and synthetic media are enabling scalable identity fraud, including programmatically generated documents and deepfake biometrics that can defeat liveness and verification checks. Hiatt urged merchants to adopt layered defenses—including tokenization, device fingerprinting, behavioral monitoring and orchestration—to mitigate distributed identity risks in AI-mediated commerce.
