Enterprises Face Data Risks From Misclassification

Ronan Murphy, chief data strategy officer at Forcepoint, warned at the RSAC 2026 conference that roughly 30% of enterprise data classifications are incorrect and are flowing into AI pipelines. He said misclassified records can allow LLMs and agentic AI to expose trade secrets or regulated content. Organizations must prioritize data discovery, accurate classification and governance before granting agents broad access.
