Democracies Urge Ban On Chinese AI Platforms

A report by the Democracy, Society and Emerging Technology Research Institute urges democratic nations to ban Chinese-funded AI models and jointly develop binding global norms, warning Beijing-backed technologies threaten data security, democratic governance and human rights. At a launch event in Taipei, researchers including Huang Kai-shen and Lai You-hao said China's state-linked tech ties and overseas AI expansion risk transferring foreign data via servers, corporate sharing, and state access requests.
