Datasette Updates LLM Usage Logging And Permissions
On April 1, 2026 Datasette released an update to its llm-usage plugin, changing logging and dependencies. The update removes allowances and estimated pricing (moved to datasette-llm-accountant), makes datasette-llm a dependency for model configuration, and enables full prompt/response/tool-call logging to thellm_usage_prompt_log when datasette-llm-usage.log_prompts is enabled. The /-/llm-usage-simple-prompt page was redesigned and now requires the llm-usage-simple-prompt permission.
Scoring Rationale
Official Datasette changelog adds practical prompt logging and access controls, boosting actionability and credibility; scope is limited to the Datasette plugin ecosystem, so novelty and scope are moderate. Published today (April 1, 2026) so no freshness penalty.
