Cyient Acquires TAO Digital to Boost AI Data Engineering

Cyient Limited announced a definitive agreement to acquire TAO Digital Solutions Inc., an AI-native data and product engineering firm headquartered in Santa Clara, California, according to a Cyient press release dated May 30, 2026. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions and is expected to close by Q2 FY27, which Business Standard reports as on or before September 30, 2026. Financial press including The Economic Times and The Hindu report an enterprise value of approximately $218 million (about Rs 2,071 crore). Cyient's release says TAO Digital, founded in 2022, has a presence in the United States, Canada, India, Taiwan, and Europe and serves customers in Automotive, Hi-Tech, and HealthTech sectors. TAO Digital's advertised strengths are in data and platform modernization, GenAI production deployment, and cloud-native product engineering, capabilities that map to the practical problems teams face moving generative AI from pilots to production: data schema harmonization across business units, feature parity, model monitoring, and automated retraining pipelines. How well Cyient integrates that expertise into its existing Intelligent Engineering delivery model, rather than running it as a separate practice, will determine whether clients see faster GenAI delivery or just added organizational complexity.
