Course Integrates Generative AI Into Astronomy Education

Christopher Stubbs et al. (submitted Feb 4, 2026) integrate generative artificial intelligence into an introductory undergraduate astronomy course, using GAI in Python notebooks, selected assignments, student presentations, and a Slack participant backed by a RAG-encoded textbook. Assignments were labeled GAI-encouraged or GAI-discouraged and exams banned electronics; end-of-course evaluations showed no decline compared with the prior non-GAI iteration.
