Companion Labs Secures $2.5M Seed Funding

Interactive AI startup Companion Labs secured $2.5 million in a seed round led by Peak XV’s Surge on February 26, 2026, with participation from All in Capital, DeVC, UntitledVC and angel investors. The Pune-based company will use the capital to accelerate product development and AI capabilities for its flagship app Mello, which offers 12 AI bots conversing in English, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi and Bengali. The startup targets tier II–IV Indian cities to build vernacular AI-native entertainment.
Scoring Rationale
Confirmed seed funding and clear market focus drive relevance; limited technical novelty and mostly regional scope constrain broader impact.
