China Strengthens IP Protections Through Court Measures

China's Supreme People's Court said judges have adopted measures to bolster intellectual property protections amid a surge in disputes from 2021–2025. Courts resolved more than 2.5 million first‑instance IP cases (a 64.44% increase); in 2025 they closed 63,971 technology‑related civil cases and awarded 1.8 billion yuan in punitive damages across 505 cases, while issuing tougher criminal interpretations.
