China Reports Rapid Generative AI User Growth

China had 602 million generative AI users as of December 2025, up 141.7% from the end of 2024, the China Internet Network Information Center reported. The report said penetration reached 42.8% (up 25.2 percentage points), noted more than 6,000 AI companies and projected a core AI industry exceeding 1.2 trillion yuan ($174 billion); WIPO data showed China holds about 60% of global AI patents.
