China Deepens Economic Ties With Africa

Foreign Minister Wang Yi began a six-day visit to Ethiopia, Somalia, Tanzania and Lesotho on Wednesday, launching the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges as relations mark 70 years. DRC vice‑prime minister Daniel Mukoko Samba and other African officials praised long-term Chinese cooperation — citing nearly 100,000 km of roads, over 10,000 km of rail, 1.1 million jobs (2022–2024), and zero-tariff access for 53 African states — and urged deeper Chinese investment to support industrial upgrading.
