Canada Provides $8.5M For Atlantic AI Adoption

AI minister Evan Solomon announced at Halifax's Volta Labs on Tuesday that the federal government will provide $8.5 million to 40 Atlantic Canadian projects to boost AI adoption and digital transformation. Delivered by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency through the RAII and REGI programs, the funding includes $1.8 million to Université de Moncton, $950,000 repayable to trophi.ai, and grants to Volta Labs, Digital Nova Scotia and AGADA Biosciences.
Key Points
- 1Allocates $8.5M to 40 Atlantic projects via ACOA's RAII and REGI programs
- 2Targets SMEs, supply chains, healthcare, education and biotech to accelerate regional AI adoption
- 3Enables practitioners to access non-repayable and repayable funding for AI projects and capacity-building
Scoring Rationale
Official multi-project funding announcement provides clear allocations but has regional scope and modest overall scale.
