Bethesda Developers Dismiss Full Remake Feasibility

Former Bethesda developer Nate Purkeypile told KiwiTalkz that full, from-scratch remakes of Bethesda’s large open-world RPGs are not feasible due to extensive interacting systems. He noted The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered used Unreal Engine 5 alongside the original Gamebryo engine and reached 9 million players after its release last year. Colleagues also said Fallout 5 could be handed to another studio, and a Switch 2 port targets a 2026 window.
