BaSE Survey Finds Widespread EdTech Use
Central Square Foundation released the Bharat Survey for EdTech (BaSE) 2025 in February after surveying 12,500 children and 2,500 teachers across ten Indian states from July 2025 to January 2026. It found 63% of children and 87% of teachers use EdTech, but only 6% of children and 45% of teachers use specialised apps, with YouTube, WhatsApp and Google dominating; about half of EdTech-using children and over 80% of teachers know of GenAI, yet many mistake it for a search engine.
Key Points
- 1Reports 63% of children and 87% of teachers use EdTech across ten Indian states.
- 2Highlights low adoption of specialised apps: only 6% children, 45% teachers use dedicated platforms.
- 3Suggests limited AI literacy: many mistake GenAI for search engines, implying need for structured training.
Scoring Rationale
Solid survey data and official NGO release, but modest novelty and regional scope limit broader impact.
