A University of Sheffield study published Feb 17 finds that rewriting radiology reports with advanced AI systems like ChatGPT made them almost twice as easy for patients to understand. Researchers reviewed 38 studies (2022–2025) covering more than 12,000 reports and found reading level dropped to that of 11–13 year-olds, while clinicians flagged about 1% containing errors. Authors call for NHS real-world testing and clinician oversight.
