In an eight-month study of a US tech company with about 200 employees, UC Berkeley Haas School of Business researchers found that generative AI increased multitasking, broadened job scope, and lengthened work hours. Reported in Harvard Business Review, the study says workers absorbed tasks that might have required extra headcount, eliminated natural pauses by sending prompts to AI during breaks, and that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman acknowledged AI accelerates work cycles in October 2025.
