Ahmedabad Deploys AI For Cow Identification

Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) launches a pilot on Jan 19, 2026 using AI-powered CCTV to identify stray cows biometrically by nose, eyes and facial features. The system will match live feeds against AMC's database of about 1.10 lakh RFID- and microchip-tagged cows via 126 smart cameras, aiming to speed owner traceability, reduce traffic accidents and improve urban public safety.
